DP World-AIREA Meeting
Sh. Satish Goel, President of the All India Rice Exporters Association (AIREA), recently met with Mr. Khalid Al Ali (Vice President) and Mr. Mohammad Shanid (Executive) at DP World in Dubai to address the critical issue of stuck containers at Jebel Ali Port.
Collaborative Problem-Solving,
Rather than waiting for logistical hurdles to clear on their own, AIREA is working directly with global partners like DP World to implement a strategic "Land-Bridge" solution,
Multimodal Movement: A plan is underway to move containers from Jebel Ali to Sohar by road (subject to supplier agreement).
Strategic Transit: This applies to cargo destined for key markets including Bandar Abbas, Afghanistan, Turkey, and Yemen.
Empowering Exporters: Once cargo reaches Sohar, buyers can arrange smaller vessels for efficient onward movement to final destinations.
Advocating for Member Relief
Beyond logistics, leadership means protecting the financial health of our members. Discussions are currently being held regarding waivers and relief for port demurrage and storage charges. We are optimistic about receiving positive developments on this front shortly.
